Our representative Aurora advanced to the Quarterfinals of the Esports World Cup 2025 with a 2-1 victory over FaZe in their opening matchup.
Aurora took the stage at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 and eliminated tournament favorite FaZe Clan. After dropping the first map, Inferno, 6-13, Aurora bounced back in style with dominant 13-3 and 13-7 wins on Mirage and Overpass, securing their spot in the quarterfinals.
Aurora’s most convincing map win came on Mirage. Özgür “woxic” Eker, who secured the opening pistol round, immediately brought out the AWP in the second round and shut down FaZe’s offense. Stringing together multi-kills across five consecutive rounds, woxic dominated the map with a 12-1 K/D performance. Afterwards, İsmailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş stepped up with clutch plays, sealing a 13-3 victory.
On the third map, Overpass, FaZe started strong on defense but completely collapsed in the second half. Aurora’s XANTARES, jottAAA, and Wicadia all came alive, dismantling every offensive attempt from their opponents. Wicadia’s crucial quad-kill performance pushed Aurora to match point, and our representatives quickly closed out the series, eliminating FaZe from the tournament in Saudi Arabia.
Throughout the series, FaZe struggled heavily on the offensive side. While they managed to win Inferno through a strong defensive showing, they secured only two offensive rounds combined across Mirage and Overpass. This result marked an early exit for FaZe at EWC 2025.
In the quarterfinal stage, Aurora will face HEROIC, the team of xfl0ud. HEROIC caused an upset by knocking Spirit out of the tournament to secure their spot in the quarterfinals. In this unexpected twist, they are now set to clash with their long-time friend and rival, Aurora.
