Our representative Aurora kicked off their FISSURE Playground 2 campaign with a 2-1 victory over Astralis.
In the opening match of the tournament held in Belgrade, Serbia, Aurora overcame Astralis 2-1 to move to a 1-0 record. Outstanding performances from XANTARES and jottAAA played a key role in securing the win.
On Astralis’ pick, Nuke, Aurora struggled to find their rhythm and lost 8-13. While the shaky performance raised concerns for the remaining maps, Aurora fought back on Dust II.
On their own map pick, Dust II, Aurora dominated the first half with a 9-3 lead, but Astralis answered back on the CT side with a similar streak. Fortunately, Aurora held their ground in overtime and managed to close out their pick.
XANTARES (1.26 rating) and Wicadia (1.25 rating) carried Aurora to victory, while dev1ce’s 1.32 rating was not enough for Astralis.
The series-deciding map, Overpass, showcased Aurora’s superiority early on. They closed the T side with an 8-4 lead, and although the CT side was more contested, Aurora leveraged their advantage to close out the map and the match. With this, Aurora claimed their first win of the tournament.
With this result, Aurora advance to a 1-0 record. Their next opponent will be determined based on the outcome of other matches and will be revealed on Saturday.
