The 1st day of BlizzCon, which was online this year, has ended. There were announcements for almost all of Blizzard’s game series. Let’s recap these for the Day 1 of 2021 BlizzCon.
The biggest news for WoW, was the announcement of the 9.1 update called Chains of Domination. The biggest addition of this update will be a new region called Korthia. You can watch the trailer down below:
WoW Classic will get Burning Crusade expansion. WoW classic was released as a means of pleasing the old school fans of the game. After the initial launch, the biggest question was the status of expansions. For most people, the golden age of WoW was either during The Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King. This announcement will certainly please a lot of people.
Blizzard also stated that Wrath of the Lich King would also be added, if requested by the community.
Blizzard brought back some of its classic games under the name of Blizzard Arcade Collection. Released today for PC and consoles, the collection includes The Lost Vikings, Blackthorne and Rock N Roll Racing in both classic and remastered versions.
A Warcraft-themed expansion pack for Hearthstone called Forged in Barrens has been announced. It will come with a new game mode called Mercenaries. The expansion pack brings in 135 new cards and will kick off the Year of Gryphon. Mercenaries mode will have strategic RPG elements with roguelike missions.
Regarding Diablo 4, the biggest announcement was the unveiling of the rogue class. I expect some further details for Diablo 4 on day 2 of BlizzCon. As we stated in this article, a release day has not been given.
We’ve known for a while that a remastered version of Diablo 2 would come. Now, we finally have the official announcement for the game. The game will come to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch. You will also be able to transfer your data across the platforms. You can watch the trailer down below to have a good comparison between the versions.
Regarding Overwatch 2, there have been a vast slate of news including new maps, hero missions mode and changes in PVP. As we said before, the release date of the game is still unknown. You can watch the trailer down below to have a detailed look at behind the scenes of the game’s development.
During the event, the part with Metallica’s live performance was changed with 8-bit music because of DMCA issues. This created a pretty funny moment, take a look at it down below:
The 2nd day is usually the day where we see more detailed news. In that sense, you can expect the 2nd day summary to be different in terms of content. Thanks for reading our Day 1 BlizzCon recap, and come back later for more news.
