BlizzCon 2021 Day 2 Announcements Recap

With its 2nd day behind us, BlizzCon is finally over. Although its online format this year has upset those who participated physically in the past years, it did not affect those who had online passes in the years prior.

As is the tradition, 1st day gave us a lot of big flashy news, while the 2nd day was full of Q&A sessions, community event and recaps. Let’s take a look at some of these new details released in Q&A videos.

You can read our day 1 recap here.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

We have more details regarding the 9.1 update named Chains of Domination. Players will be able to fly within the Shadowlands areas, and there are 40 extra Renown levels to be earned.

In the Q&A video, Blizzard staff admitted that there was a discrepancy between Horde and Alliance player numbers. Currently they have no intention to touch this subject, however they might do something in the future.

There are also new Tier sets coming with this update. Additionally, In Q&A video, Blizzard announced many different additions to the end game activities. You can watch down below:

World of Warcraft Classic

WoW Classic’s first objective was to satisfy the need for that old feel many people craved. In the background however, the game was not actually the same. The same design philosophy seems to continue with the addition of The Burning Crusade expansion.

WoW Classic will use TBC’s 2.4.3 balance patch, which brought much quality of life improvements to the game. Additionally, Blizzard stated that they might add some aspects of current LFG tools in to the classic version of the game.

Diablo

We have many nuanced details when it comes to Diablo 4. The lore of the game will be changed so that Rogue and Druid classes can be created as female or male genders. The game will have a transmog system and many quality of life options for gamers with special needs.

Diablo 2 Resurrected will be different than Blizzards other remastered Warcraft 3: Reforged in regards to game versions. With Reforged, Blizzard forced everyone to play the new version of the game. Whereas in Diablo 2 people will still have the option of playing the classic version.

The game will use the 1.14 version of the game and will have small but noticeable tweaks to some aspects of the game. The original game had some cheats, however with this version, battle.net’s protective systems will prevent most of them. The trading system will also be touched, though we don’t know the exact details.

In regards to Diablo Immortal, it was confirmed that lore-wise there would be no connections to Diablo 4 and the game will use some kind of a season system. The game has no release that, however, technical tests indicate a fall release.

Conclusion

In the end, this year’s BlizzCon was not full of surprises. Don’t get me wrong this is not a bad thing. WoW, Diablo, Hearthstone & Overwatch fans all got some new information. It’s just that we didn’t see any new games or release days for the upcoming ones. I knew the chance of any of that was slim, however, I would have been happy with something new. That being said, I left the Blizzard games a long time ago. For me, they started to lack originality and the spirit of old. I am not going to lie though, within these two days, I did get some nostalgia. So I will be patiently waiting for the next years BlizzCon. Hopefully under better conditions.
