Cloud9 CEO: “Gambit did not participate in the roster transfer talks”

Cloud9 CEO and Founder Jack Etienne talked with Sports Business Journal about the acquisition of the Gambit Esports CS:GO roster, the value of which was not disclosed. According to Etienne, the American organization only negotiated with ULTI Agency, which had already acquired full rights to the players and had joined the transfer market.

The ULTI Agency acquired the rights of these players and brought us this exciting opportunity. They were pivotal in negotiating agreements with the players that everyone was happy with.

Etienne also stated that the option to sign Gambit’s coach Konstantin “groove” Pikiner aided Cloud9’s decision to return to CS:GO.

When we left CS:GO, it was always with the promise of a return when we saw the right opportunity. This team has shown incredible promise, but what clinched it for me was that Groove would join Cloud9 as well.

The American organization’s leader did not reveal the location of the Russian roster’s relocation, which was disclosed in a press release by Cloud9. Etienne urged people to keep up with the news and promised them that the squad will hunt for possibilities to compete in all top-tier competitions, not only those in North America.

Support will include relocation, housing, equipment, boot camps and much more. We will look to provide everything they need so they can focus on being the best they can be.Relocation of the team is currently underway, stay tuned. We will be looking to play any premier events available.

Cloud9 announced the signing of the Gambit roster last days, which played under the neutral Players tag at last big tournaments due to the ban of the club for having ties to the Russian government amid ongoing hostilities in Ukraine. The debut of the team representing the American organization will take place at PGL Major Antwerp 2022, which will be held from May 9 to 22.
