Devil May Cry series filled our childhood with joy. Dante, our half-demon, half-human protagonist slaying demons with his different and special weapons. Personally, my favorite weapons in the series are Agni and Rudra and Cerberus in DMC 3. However, as we can see from the title, the reason you are here is Vergil, not Dante.
Devil May Cry veterans surely know this beast of a man. However, let me give brief information about Vergil for those who have forgotten (highly unlikely) or not familiar with the story of Devil May Cry series. Vergil is Dante‘s older brother. The two brothers are vastly different from each other. Dante is more playful and relaxed, while Vergil is much more serious and more prone to anger. Vergil desires absolute power. Unfortunately for him, this quest for power became his undoing. However, that doesn’t change the fact that Vergil is one of the strongest characters in Devil May Cry Series.
Vergil doesn’t have many weapons or fighting styles as his little brother Dante. But here’s the fun part! Vergil doesn’t need an arsenal of weapons like Dante. He can do wonders with Yamato, Beowulf, and Mirage Force Edge. With his “Dark Slayer” style he can destroy enemies with the power of darkness. Also, his “Dark Slayer” style is pretty similar to Dante‘s “Trickster” style.
In my humble opinion, Yamato is the most important weapon in the whole series. With this weapon, Vergil can easily slice and dice enemies with ease. Yamato can make Vergil‘s attacks ultra fast. “Like how fast?” You might ask. With Yamato, Vergil can cut space and time with the special move called “Judgement Cut End”
Vergil is can wield his father’s sword, Force Edge. However, the Force Edge that he uses is nothing but a mirage. We can even call it an illusion sword. But, that doesn’t mean the sword itself is powerless. Unlike Yamato’s fast attacks, Mirage Force Edge is capable of displaying slow yet devastating attacks.
Those who played Devil May Cry 3 will remember this beauty. This weapon is similar to Dante‘s weapon Balrog. There’s nothing more beautiful than punching and kicking enemies like there is no tomorrow.
Vergil doesn’t need pesky guns. Vergil uses blades. These blades can not only deal damage but also helps Vergil to maintain the stylish combos to kill enemies. How? By teleporting enemies with blades. Simple yet elegant.
Vergil might be more simple “mechanics-wise” compared to Dante. However, that doesn’t mean he is easy to play. It takes hours to master Vergil, dear readers. Playing Vergil is incredibly complex.
Concentration: The higher your concentration level, the more you gain attack patterns, range, and damage. During the fight, your concentration bar will increase slowly. However, if you run aimlessly, miss attacks, or take a hit during fights, your concentration bar will reduce to zero.
Block: Similar to Dante‘s “Royal Guard” style, Vergil can block attacks from his enemies. But in order to block, you must have at least one level of concentration. Also, when you successfully block attacks, your concentration level drops decreases.
World of V: There are sadly two ways to heal yourselves while playing Vergil. The first way is to find green orbs(Duh). The second way is to use “World of V”. This move at a high concentration level will replenish your life. Also, this special move summons V’s pets: Griffon, Shadow, and Nightmare. Cool AoE attack for replenishing life if I say so myself. Lastly, using “World of V” will reduce your concentration level back to zero.
Vergil‘s DMC 5 Devil Trigger is slightly different from his DMC 3 and DMC 4 version. When Vergil activates his Devil Trigger, he creates a “doppelganger” instead of transforming into a demon. This “doppelganger“, can copy Vergil’s every attack. You know the famous Team Rocket‘s quote: “Prepare for trouble and make it double”
Frankly, Vergil‘s Sin Devil Trigger is much better than Dante‘s Sin Devil Trigger. SDT, provides extra speed, damage, and brand new combos to Vergil. Combined with the concentration, Vergil is able to do attacks that will wipe out all the demons in the area. What I like about Vergil‘s SDT is that it doesn’t force us to use one single weapon like Dante’s SDT. With Vergil, you can use Yamato, Beowulf, and Mirage Force Edge with extra attack power.
That’s all the information I can think of dear readers. Of course, there may be information that I probably missed. If there is anything that you want to add, feel free to do so in the comment section.
