Envy & OpTic Gaming Announce Merger!

North American esports organizations OpTic Gaming and Envy Gaming have announced their merger. The team will compete under the name OpTic Texas in the 2022 season.

With the merger, we will see both the OpTic Chicago and Dallas Empire brands retire.

The merger means the League’s Chicago franchise will be sold. The organizations said they are trying to find interested parties to purchase the 12th slot in the CoD League for next season.

As part of the merger, Hector Rodriguez will become a shareholder in the new business endeavor and will continue to operate OpTic Gaming. Envy Gaming will also continue to run its Dallas Fuel franchise in the Overwatch League, as well as its teams in VALORANT, Halo, and Rocket League.

After the merger, the officials of both organizations made a statement.

OpTic Gaming leader Hector “HECZ” Rodriguez said:

There’s nothing I want more than having the freedom as a creator to create. It’s a comfort level of trust in Mike and the investment group he’s put together that has been there for years and that ı know from personal experience. Finding people you trust, and want to build with is the most important thing for the future of OpTic.

Envy’s chief gaming officer Mike “Hastr0” Rufail said:

It’s still somewhat surreal. Organisations are going to have to attract more eyeballs and operate a business that can scale. We’re strengthening the future of what esports will be ten years from now with the decisions we are making today. For us, this deal means we can accomplish our goals faster. Life is too short not to do this.

OpTic Texas is already among the favorite names in the upcoming season. I’m sure the fans of both teams are very excited.
