ESIC on the new BUG report: “Very high profile people will be affected!”

The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) has confirmed a previously reported inside narrative concerning a new inquiry into the professional usage of the so-called coaching bug. Dust2.us reported this, citing a remark made by ESIC Director of Global Strategy and Partnerships Stephen Hanna during a public summit in London.

A very substantial class of people and very high profile people [will] be affected on this report!

At the same time, he gave no specific dates for the report’s release, which, according to numerous reports, should happen before PGL Major Antwerp 2022, or before May 9.

Hanna also discussed ESIC’s relationship with Valve. According to him, contact between the firms is tough since the game creator does not want to intervene heavily in the competitive scene’s regulation. He went on to say that Valve is now unwilling to revise the permanent restrictions on some coaches from participating in their tournaments, which were initially mentioned in the Commission’s first report a year and a half ago.

Following the first release of information regarding the planned ESIC investigation into coaches who exploited the game’s weakness, the names of several experts who may be cited in the Commission’s final report began to surface in the media. Coaches Damien “maLeK” Marcel and Luis “peacemaker” Tadeu were specifically highlighted as abusing the bug.
