ESL bans American player for making offensive comments in-game chat

ESL has announced it has banned Valors player Matthew “nero” Seymour from all tournaments for 3 weeks for using “disrespectful and provocative” expressions in the in-game chat.

The incident took place on February 2, in the ESL Challenger League Season 40 tournament match of Valors vs ONET4P. As the match between the North American teams continued, Valors player nero took a time-out for his team. Later, nero wrote in the in-game chat, “I’m sorry, my parents came to my room and told me how much they loved me.” This message, which seems like a normal sentence from afar, was actually a reference to Walker “Walker” Harris, player of the opposing team ONET4P, who lost his family recently.

Saying that he perceived this message as an insult after the match was over, Walker applied to the tournament organizer ESL. Later this, ESL announced in a statement that the incident was investigated and banned nero from all tournaments for 3 weeks, and the team will not be able to benefit from the cash prizes because it does not prevent this situation!
