EU Champions Tournament Participants Have Been Announced!

The EU Champions event, organized by the Polish gaming agency Fantasyexpo, will take place between September 7-9. The best team will guarantee themselves a spot in the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2021.

The past two weeks have been marked by regional qualifying tournaments, which have determined the next five EU Champions participants. During this phase, the best teams from the DACH, France, Poland and UK regions were selected and an open last chance qualifier was held.

The winners of the qualifiers joined the previously invited teams in the form of Illuminar Gaming and MAD DOG’S PACT. The organizers had previously announced that the last invitation would go to a team from Europe that is highly ranked in the HLTV rankings. The invite was given to FunPlus Phoenix. The group stage thus look as follows:

Group A

Group B

  • FunPlus Phoenix
  • Illuminar Gaming
  • Into The Breach
  • MAD Lions
  • Coalesce
  • Double Poney
  • MAD DOG’S PACT
  • Sprout

Participants will play the group stage according to the GSL format. The group stage matches will be Bo1, while all subsequent matches up to the final will be Bo3. The top team will advance to the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown and will receive $25,000, an amount that BLAST is providing for the organization’s growth.

EU Champions will take place between September 7-9 and can be watched on Blast Premier’s official twitch channel.

The highest ranked team of the tournament is FunPlus Phoenix, but their unstable position doesn’t allow to name them as a definite favorite. Certainly players from teams like Sprout or DBL Poney have equally good chances to win the championship. We should also not forget about MAD Lions, which has a huge potential in talented individuals. They can certainly turn out to be the black horse of the tournament.
