The European team fnatic quailfied for Gamers8 2023 without losing a match in Gamers8 2023 Europe Open Qualifier 1.
After defeating Looking4Org 2-0 in the final, fnatic qualified from the European open qualifier for Gamers8 2023. William “mezii” Merriman’s team will be competing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, among teams like Vitality, G2, and Heroic for the greater part of a $1,000,000 prize pool.
On their journey to the top of the online qualification, fnatic overcame Sprout, GTZ, 500, and Looking4Org without losing a single map. The qualifying matches were single-elimination, best-of-one matches with a best-of-three title match to determine the winning team.
The French squad including Ali “hAdji” Hanouss, defeated several strong teams in the bracket like 9INE and Astralis but they couldn’t manage to match that level of competition in the final.
Between August 14 and 20, Gamers8 2023 will be organized by the ESL FACEIT Group and will be broadcast live and including 10 of the top-15 squads based on the HLTV rankings.
Three more teams will be able to participate in the tournament. While two of them will be invited, the last one will be decided by the second qualification which will be played between July 11 and 12. Second qualification is the last chance for the teams who did not advance from the online bracket.
