Garena has finally put an end to speculation about the participation of India and CIS regions in the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) Sentosa. In a press release today, the developer announced the updated slot distribution for FFWS, and neither region is included in the updated distribution.
Two top teams from India and CIS needed to qualify for FFWS through regional competitions like Free Fire India Championship Spring and Free Fire Pro League CIS Season 4. The winner of these competitions would qualify for the FFWS Finals. Both of these tournaments were not held on schedule, but this means that fans will not be able to see Indian and CIS teams in FFWS.
The Free Fire India Championship was suspended last February after the game was banned in the South Asian country due to alleged data privacy concerns. The Free Fire Pro League CIS on the other hand was canceled due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
As a result, only 10 teams will compete in the play-ins in the updated slot distribution for FFWS. From here, the top four teams will continue to the FFWS finals. Previously, only two teams were required to advance from play-ins, but this number has been increased to four due to the lack of CIS and India regions.
The qualifying rounds for the FFWS will be held on May 14, and the finals will be held on May 21. It should be noted that FFWS also has a huge prize pool of 2 million dollars.
