Game Changers EMEA 2023: Vision and Format Changes

The Game Changers Championship marks the conclusion of the 2022 circuit, and G2 Gozen becomes the crowned champions after pulling off the reverse sweep against Shopify Rebellion! 2023 is fast approaching and Riot Games have some news to share about the upcoming Game Changers EMEA.

As VALORANT Game Changers EMEA goes from strength to strength, women from every corner of the region are continuing to get involved. This year we saw more women than ever before get involved which is exciting to see. As Game Changers grows, it needs to evolve. Riot Games decided to listen to the Game Changers community and review game data and have some big changes planned.

Heading into 2023, Riot Games will continue to grow that sense of community that has come to define Game Changers EMEA along with taking the format to the next level. They want to honor the development of high skill gameplay that we’ve seen in the tournament circuit this past year, whilst continuing to foster the inclusive environment that remains the core of the Game Changers initiative.

Riot Games want to break down stereotypes, elevate women, allow them to further their careers in a dedicated safe space, and provide a platform for professional growth both in and outside of the game. Their new approach to Game Changers EMEA in 2023 will demonstrate exactly how they plan to do that.

Game Changers EMEA 2023: Format Changes

According to Riot Games, the one size fits all approach made sense when they started, but it doesn’t any more. To provide an experience that better suits the variety of skill levels within the community, they have split the Game Changers circuit into distinct layers, with two different overarching themes and goals. Next year, we will see a Game Changers circuit that provides a more beneficial experience for players of all skill levels.

The foundation of Game Changers EMEA 2023 is going to be dedicated to creating opportunities for individual players to gain more knowledge and consistent competitive training experience in a community setting. The inaugural VCT Game Changers EMEA: Emergents will offer budding Radiants a chance to shine via an in-house competitive Discord community complete with a leaderboard and rewards. This Discord channel will also be a centralized source for the latest Game Changers EMEA news and updates. Alongside the Emergents community will be VCT Game Changers EMEA: Academy, which will provide educational content from personalities that we know and love. The objective is to give the Game Changers community a chance to learn more about careers within the VALORANT ecosystem.

From here, Riot Games graduate to the core layer of the competition, which is split into VCT Game Changers EMEA: Contenders, and VCT Game Changers EMEA—a 16-team league. New to the Game Changers EMEA circuit will be a selection of regional events that will qualify its top teams for a place in the Game Changers EMEA: Contenders series. Each series will also begin with an open qualifier to ensure everyone has a chance to get in on the action. In Contenders, players will be able to duke it out for a spot in the main league. Perform here, and Game Changers EMEA awaits. With 16 teams (the top four being last year’s top performers), the competition doesn’t get tougher than this – at least in EMEA.

Beyond VCT Game Changers EMEA lies the Game Changers World Championship – the ultimate test of skill. Offering a chance to show off just how good EMEA’s women truly are, stars are forged here and trophies won, providing the perfect conclusion to the Game Changers EMEA experience.

The new circuit is designed to be the ideal pathway to pro play for those in the Game Changers community — a space where players can hone their skills, become the best, and make their way into the larger VCT ecosystem and, quite literally, change the game.

2023 looks brighter than ever for EMEA’s women, and we’re excited to keep pushing boundaries that show the world that everyone is equal. Alpha Earth is a safe space for everyone, and we can’t wait to see how it continues to grow.
