LEC Spring Split events and matches are approaching. The upcoming start date has been announced by Riot Games.
The 2021 World Cup is coming. But Riot Games has already started planning for the future. The League of Legends European Championship returns with action-packed matches on January 14, with the 2022 Spring Split.
In an announcement on Lolesports.com, the organization states they are not relying on live shows yet due to the Covid-19 Delta variant. Riot says it’s more important to invest their money in more concrete plans rather than plans that are possible to be canceled due to the pandemic.
As a result, LEC will invest in improving the viewing experience for people at home. Also, the organization is following up the situation about Covid-19. Once it improves, the Summer of 2022 can be live again.
LEC has been playing without spectators since March 2020. It was even played entirely online for a while. It was possible for the teams to come to the studio in Berlin to play the matches, at the end of last Summer Split.
