Oscar “Mixwell” Caellas has rejoined G2 Esports active roster, a month after being replaced by Cista “keloqz” Wassim, who has now been demoted to the bench.
Mixwell was benched by G2 on January 14, missing the open qualification for Stage 1: Challengers 2 after a disastrous early exit in Challengers 1. G2 brought back keloqz, the young gun who guided the European team to a top-four finish in Masters: Berlin, for Challengers 2. They qualified for Stage 1: EMEA Challengers with his help.
G2 is presently in the middle of Group B with a one-win and one-loss record. The squad began the event with a 2-1 loss against Fnatic, but quickly rebounded with a 2-0 win over SuperMassive Blaze to even their record. G2 still have three more group stage games to play if they want to make the playoffs, even with Mixwell back. On January 26, they’ll face BBL Esports, followed by matchups against Acend and Guild Esports over the next two weeks.
