The Mongolian squad MongolZ defeated our representative Aurora 3-0 in the Grand Final of the Esports World Cup 2025 to claim the championship.
In the EWC 2025 Grand Final, Mongolia’s The MongolZ overcame Aurora in a clean sweep to lift the trophy. On their road to the final, played in a single-elimination format, The MongolZ had also eliminated GamerLegion, 3DMAX, and Vitality. This marks the team’s first-ever S-Tier championship.
The final series began on Mirage. Aurora’s stars İsmailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş and Özgür “woxic” Eker stood out with strong performances. Despite woxic’s critical clutch plays, Aurora failed to close out the map. In the final round, the game went into overtime, where The MongolZ secured the win to go up 1-0 in the series.
On Dust2, Aurora got off to a quick start but trailed 7-5 at halftime. Ali “Wicadia” Haydar Yalçın gave the team a morale boost with a spectacular Desert Eagle quad-kill, but The MongolZ read MAJ3R’s offenses perfectly, taking the map 13-9 to extend their advantage.
The third map, Nuke, began with The MongolZ winning the pistol round. Engin “MAJ3R” Küpeli sparked hope for Aurora with a Zeus + triple kill in an eco round, but the Mongolian side quickly regained control.
Aurora managed to win the second pistol round, but immediately afterward Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold crushed their momentum with a Desert Eagle triple kill. Shortly after, Usukhbayar “910” Banzragch sealed the deal with a 1v3 AWP clutch. The MongolZ closed out Nuke 13-4, taking the series 3-0 and lifting the trophy.
Overall, Aurora struggled to maintain control throughout the maps. Whenever they managed to gain the upper hand, they couldn’t hold it for long, while The MongolZ consistently surprised with unexpected plays to stay alive and eventually knock Aurora out.
Aurora had previously reached the BLAST Bounty 2025 S1 Grand Final, where they fell 3-1 to Spirit, and narrowly lost the ESL Pro League S20 Final as well.
Coming into this tournament more confident and better prepared, our representatives once again shared the same fate. Despite showcasing brilliant performances and raising hopes all the way to the Grand Final, they fell short at the very end.
