Nacon Acquires Daedalic Entertainment for $60 Million

Nacon announced this week that it has acquired game developer Daedalic Entertainment for $60 million. The two companies are working together on the upcoming Lord of the Rings: Gollum game.

In addition, Nacon said that this transaction is the largest acquisition it has ever made.

Daedalic Entertainment was founded in 2007 and the company produced Witch It!, Unrailed! and released games like Hidden Deep. Last week, the publisher acquired Edge of Eternity developer Midgar Studio.

During 2021, the publisher also acquired Ishtar Games, Montreal-based Session developer Creature Studios, and Australian sports games maker Big Ant Studios.

According to Nacon, the company will take 100% of the company’s intellectual property along with Daedalic himself. These include the Deponia and Edna & Harvey series. He added that Daedalic’s current leadership team will continue to run the studio with “a high degree of autonomy in development and release.”

“We knew, through our current collaboration on Gollum, that Nacon and Daedalic share the same values and the same objectives to deliver unique experiences to gamers. Therefore, it seemed logical to go further together, and we’re extremely happy of this acquisition. It represents a significant step in Nacon’s strategy.”
