NIP announced Brollan signing!

NIP has confirmed the transfer of Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin from Fnatic, completing a long-rumored move that was first reported by HLTV.org in late February after the Swedish club put up a large price in the area of €600,000 for the 19-year-old sensation.

Brollan has been on NIP’s radar for years, according to COO Jonas Gunderson, who describes him as “a generational Swedish talent with unlimited superstar potential.” Brollan, who NIP refers to as “perhaps Sweden’s best player” is expected to make the lineup a title contender for years to come.

We’ve been looking at Brollan for years now, every serious team has. In my mind it hasn’t been a question of whether he would join, but when, and I think he’s chosen a fantastic time.”

NIP COO Jonas Gundersen

Brollan joined Fnatic at the tender age of 16 in 2018, filling up for the departed veteran flusha. During the first year and a half with Brollan, Fnatic remained a competitive team in the highest echelon of CS:GO, adding further hardware via DreamHack Masters Malmö 2019 and ESL Pro League Season 11: Europe. However, the squad’s lackluster performance in 2020 and 2021 ended in the team losing out on PGL Stockholm entirely, despite multiple roster changes in 2021.

Brollan will then join the active roster in time for NIP’s preparations for the next Major cycle, which kicks off next month in Bucharest, Romania, with the Regional Major Ranking events. On the European side of things, the Swedish-majority team has been assigned to the B group, which will take place on April 21-24 and will give eight Major slots in the Swiss stage.

I’m excited to take the next step in my career with NIP. I go way back with some of the players and I really feel like it’s time to lift some trophies together.

NIP has had a difficult start to the 2022 season, as they are still missing superstar AWPer dev1ce, who is on a lengthy medical absence. In his absence, Love “phzy” Smidebrant of the Young Ninjas has taken over as the primary sniper, although the squad has struggled at BLAST Premier Spring and IEM Katowice.

The organization hasn’t said which roster would be utilized in the Major cycle, but one of Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora or Love “phzy” Smidebrant is anticipated to step back.

NIP’s current 6-man CS:GO roster:

  • Fredrik “REZ” Sterner
  • Hampus “hampus” Poser
  • Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora
  • Patrick “es3tag” Hansen
  • Love “phzy” Smidebrant
  • Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin
  • Daniel “djL” Narancic (Coach)
  • Nicolai “device” Reedtz (Medical Leave)
