PGL Major Stockholm Has Been Announced

PGL announced the first major tournament of CS:GO in two years, PGL Major Stockholm. The tournament will take place on October 23 – November 7, and its prize pool will be $2,000,000.

The capital of Sweden, Stockholm, will host this major tournament. Moreover, the playoff matches will be played in Ericsson Globe Arena. The arena also hosted the 2014 DreamHack Invitational and 2018 DreamHack Masters Stockholm.

Despite the pandemic, the organizers explained that if all Covid-19 restrictions meet the conditions, the tournament will be hosted during the given timespan.

PGL announced that this tournament will be streamed in 4K resolution. If this happens, it will be the first tournament to be streamed in 4K.

PGL’s CEO Silviu Stroie talked about the tournament.

First of all, my colleagues and I are passionate fans of CS. We grew up and watched this game getting bigger and bigger, just at the same pace as our development as a company. We have timeless memories with our past Counter-Strike shows, and, honestly, we owe a lot to this game, as players, and as a company. Furthermore, we believe that this community deserves the best product this franchise has ever seen. Our goal is to celebrate the game in the best way possible, and we will work hard for this.

Silviu Stroie, CEO of PGL

PGL Major Stockholm 2021 will be the first major tournament after the StarLadder Major 2019.
