PSG.LGD Wins WePlay Esports AniMajor

In the second consecutive Dota Major, a strong Chinese team managed to defeat Evil Geniuses in the grand final. PSG.LGD beat EG in the WePlay Esports AniMajor tournament, earning them $200,000 and 500 DPC points.

LGD competed in the group stage and qualified to play in the upper bracket for the playoffs. After winning against Alliance, Nigma, and T1 teams, they defeated EG, North America’s biggest Dota 2 team, 3-0 in the grand finals.

After making it to the playoffs, EG played in the lower bracket to reach the grand finals. The team destroyed NoPing e-esports’, TNC Predator’s and Nigma’s chances to participate directly in The International 10. Afterwards, they beat Vici Gaming and T1 teams.

Although EG struggled throughout the final series, they showed their competitive spirit in the last two games. The North American team was ahead by more than 40 minutes in game two. However, they did not win the game in time and had to give up after losing a big team fight.

LGD finished third in the ONE Esports Singapore Major earlier this season and lost to EG in upper bracket before being eliminated by Invictus Gaming. EG had failed to beat IG in the previous Major, and now once again lost to a Chinese team.

EG and LGD will compete again, for a prize pool of more than $40 million at The International 10, which will take place on August 5th in Sweden.
