League of Legends and VALORANT developer Riot Games has released a new logo and a media website.
Riot Games is going for a new design across all its assets, starting with 2022. The newly introduced logo is the first step of this project.
Riot Games’ new website will host both corporate news and updates on the developer’s range of games.
The new logo is very similar to the previous one, but the most noticeable change is the font. This is the developer’s second logo change in three years. The company made significant changes to its original logo in 2019.
Riot Games explained the thinking behind the redesign in a press release:
“As Riot enters its second decade, we felt the timing was right to update and expand the Riot Games visual system to set us up for success long-term. The change to the logo was an output of building a more cohesive visual system including the creation of additional unique assets (like typography) that will help players recognize us more easily where we show up.“
In the last few months, Riot Games has made a number of important announcements for its games. The company has given an update on the upcoming yet-to-be-named fighting game. It has also released updates for both the Wild Rift and VALORANT competitive ecosystems.
Riot Games’ new logo is not much different from the old one. More importantly, it retains the fist icon that has been part of Riot’s identity since the company’s early days. The new logo will be followed by a rebrand, scheduled to take place in 2022, though it’s not yet clear whether the rebranding will affect existing logos for Riot games.
