Twitch has some controversial attitudes about lots of topics like the paying system, manners against harmful behaviors. However, some streamers are complaining about this situation and boycotting the platform today. Many streamers stated that they won’t stream anything today by using the hashtag #ADayOffTwitch.
One of the biggest problems on the platform is the hate speech from the viewers. Marginal streamers complain a lot about this situation. Although they have repeatedly told this situation on social media, for them, Twitch’s measures are inadequate. That’s why many streamers got desperate, knowing that Twitch can’t avert it.
Streamers, who felt that Twitch couldn’t protect them in their streams, and their supporters called on Twitch to take action with the hashtag #TwitchDoBetter. The company posted a response after a little while.
Twitch then shared its plans in a further tweet flood. The company addressed that it has been able to identify a vulnerability in proactive filters and that it has rolled out an update to close this gap and better detect hate speech in chat. Also, it will launch a channel-wide ban evade detection, and it will improve the account verification process that will go live later this year.
Finally, Twitch stated that their work is never done, and they are ready to build a safer Twitch by reaching out to the community members. Although, It seems like those messages are not enough, and streamers are boycotting the platform again.
Following these statements, the streamers stated that they were not satisfied. Streamer Rek It Raven made a call-out to her colleagues not to stream on September 1. Although it didn’t get much attention at first, the trend drew more and more attention. Regardless of the category they stream, the streamers posted the same message: the image below, along with the #ADayOffTwitch tag.
We hope that this action by the steamers will make Twitch come to its senses. No one in the world should be subjected to pressure from others because their thoughts are different. We hope that Twitch will adjust this policy properly as soon as possible.
