In FIBA Esports Open II, Turkey’s national team will be competing against countries in which the game is highly popular. These countries include; Germany, UK, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Russia, Switzerland, Croatia, Czech Republic.

Alper Afşin Özdemir, Founding President of TESFED: “I believe that our champions will make our country proud with their success.”

Alper Afşin Özdemir, Founding President of TESFED noted that since the establishment of the federation, their biggest goal has been to turn Turkey into a global brand in esports and to popularize this sports branch. Remarking that this year’s TESFED Turkey Cup was a much bigger organization compared to the first one last year; Alper Afşin Özdemir stated:

“The cup continues on its way with growing and new innovations. Differently from last year, the matches take place in online platforms within the health measures concerning the pandemic. Also, this year there is one more development. After the Tekken 7, PES and Dota 2 champions represented us officially in the regional qualifiers, now our national team for NBA2K will represent our country in the international tournament of FIBA.

In this journey which we started to make Turkey a country that succeeds in international esports, we have started to achieve this goal.

Our collaboration with Turkey Basketball Federation is one of the most important steps toward this goal. We will achieve significant success in international esports championships with the champions we will release in all branches by further improving the official representation.
I congratulate our champions and believe with my heart that they will make us proud with their victories from abroad.”
