Interviews

Turko: We’re Better In Aim Fights. It’ll Probably Be An Easy Win.

Between the fantastic light show and players appearing out of smoke, SuperMassive Blaze showed a valiant performance but still lost 2-0 against Acend in their first match in Valorant Masters – Berlin. After their unlucky loss, SMB player Mehmet “Turko” Özen answered our questions.

Esportimes: First of all, thanks for doing this interview despite not winning today. You lost 2-0 against Acend, can you talk about the series in general?

Turko: None of us expected the game to go this way. We went to the stage very hyped. As you saw in Bind, we switched our comp in scrims lately. Our scrims were going really good. Maybe because this was on stage, we did not play like ourselves. Talking about Ascent, I did not expect the same performance from us. I expected better. We really did not play like ourselves.

ET: Do you think this is caused by playing on stage?

Turco: Not really- Not for me but maybe for some of our friends who played in a LAN event for the first time. Because I can’t think of any other reasons, we faced off against Acend before and beat them. The only reason we didn’t this time could be because of playing on stage.

ET: Speaking of playing on stage, how does it feel to be in Berlin, participating on stage in this huge LAN event?

Turko: It’s incredible. I can’t even describe it. Smoke rises and you’re waiting there to walk in. Everyone was so excited. It wasn’t about playing on those computers, it was about walking to that stage. We were all so thrilled about that.

ET: It was thrilling for us to watch, it was a magnificent opening show. As you mentioned before, you did beat Acend 2-1 in EMEA play-offs, You did not play your best in Bind in that series as well. What was the problem for you then, if not playing on LAN?

Turko: I don’t know, there is a big problem in Bind that we can’t fix. In that series, we played against Acend right after a long and rough trip. After we lost there we got better but it’s most likely not tiredness nor excitement, we’re just bad at Bind. There is no other explanation.

ET: You’ll play against the loser of the Vision Strikers vs Paper Rex series in 5 days. What do you think about the teams and what is your expectations from your next match?

Turko: I think we’ll win. We’ll probably win. I think they both play very simple. They play the classic team comp. I think we’re better in aim fights as well. It’ll probably be an easy win.

ET: Now that you say it like that, I’m hyped and excited for the 15th.

Turko: We’re also hyped but sometimes it doesn’t go like that ingame. Just unlucky sometimes.

ET: Good luck in your next series, hope you don’t get unlucky.

Turko: Thanks. Hopefully, we won’t get unlucky and it’ll be easy.

It was very fun to see both the amazing opening show and the series yesterday. Thanks to Turko and good luck to him and the rest of SuperMassive Blaze on their journey in Berlin. May their luck be present and their games easy.
