VCT Challengers Stage 1 Summary (EU)

In this article, we will list the teams that will compete in the European region of VCT Challengers stage 2 and have an overview of stage 1.

VCT Challengers EU Stage 1

32 teams faced each other in the open qualifiers in Bo3 format. The best 8 of these teams got the chance to play in VCT Challengers stage 1.

Stage 1 Team List:

  • Wave Esports
  • Fnatic
  • G2 Esports
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • FunPlus Phoenix
  • Team Liquid
  • Monkey Business
  • Guild Esports

There was no prize in the qualifiers, however, there was a prize pool of €17.500 in VCT Challengers EU stage 1, where the 8 teams above competed against each other. In addition, the top 4 teams would qualify to compete directly in VCT Challengers EU stage 2.

The results of the first stage were somewhat surprising. G2 Esports has been at the top of EU charts for a considerable amount of time. They also added “zeek” to their roster. However, they lost to Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Ninjas in Pyjamas, surprised everyone with their performance. For a while now, they failed in achieving stability within their VALORANT team, however now it seems like they have finally managed to create that synergy.

Monkey Business managed to win against Guild Esports 2-0, without a hassle.

Wave Esports, on the other hand, managed to beat the Fnatic, which recently acquired SUMN FC.

Finally, FunPlus Phoenix outplayed its rival Team Liquid with 2-0. It wasn’t an easy win though. Both matches went into overtime and they were really close. Team Liquid lost their edge on the last rounds. “ScreaM’s” superhuman performance also gained some attention.

These are the team that are moving to stage 2:

  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • Monkey Business
  • Wave Esports
  • FunPlus Phoenix

VCT Challengers Stage 2 EU, will kick off on February 17th. First, the teams will play closed elimination. The top 32 teams will qualify for the open qualifiers. Then the number will drop to the top 4 teams and these 4 teams will compete with VCT Challengers 1 teams. As a result, the top 4 teams will qualify to go to VCT Masters and the remaining 4 teams will get the right to participate directly in VCT Challengers 3. VCT Challengers 3 will be the last tournament in EU region to qualify for the VCT Masters.

When there are only 8 teams left, CT Challengers stage 2 live streams will start. Previous matches will not be streamed. You can watch the games on the official VALORANT Esports EU Twitch channel.
