Esports tournament organizer WePlay has announced their first Rocket League tournament titled WePlay Esports Invitational.
16 teams from Europe, the Middle East, Africa and North America will compete for the $100,000 prize pool. Tournament will begin on September 16. Teams attending the event include Team BDS, Team Vitality, Guild Esports, The General NRG, G2 Esports, and Sandrock Gaming.
The event will feature eight teams from Europe, the Middle East and Africa combined and eight separate teams from North America. Teams from each region will compete against each other in a double elimination format (BO7). The final is expected to be played on September 17. In addition, WePlay Esports Arena Kyiv will host the English broadcast of the tournament.
WePlay has been hosting some of the most exciting esports tournaments for many of the most popular games for years, including DOTA 2, CS:GO, and League of Legends. The esports promoter appears to be enjoying continued success. So they decided to add another esports title to their toolbelt.
Rocket League was the perfect choice for a new title. First, the game is pretty unique. It also has a very high skill ceiling, which explains its success over the past six years. The latter will hopefully open new avenues for fans and organizers alike. This will surely expand the audience and the community.
