woxic: “I’m really proud because I’m leading this team!”

“Turkish Super Team” Eternal Fire’s captain Özgür “woxic” Eker says “I’m really proud because I’m leading this team!” in an interview with HLTV.org.

Özgür “woxic” Eker has led Eternal Fire to the Challengers stage of the PGL Major in Antwerp, but it was not an easy journey. Eternal Fire has finally cemented its position among the Counter-Strike elite in Belgium after a difficult journey at the European RMR. They won the event in five games, defeating Dignitas, Fnatic, and OG along the way.

For the boys, we are really proud of what we have done because it was really hard to make it here, way before from Turkey, and now we just came back and shared our experience to help them and level up their game sense. They are listening well and working well, so basically, I am really proud because I am leading this team.

Following their triumph against OG, the Turkish AWPer turned in-game leader sat down with us to discuss the experience of playing from Turkey, the effect of his previous IGL’s, and the bomb incident against Dignitas. have now cemented their spot among Belgium’s Counter-Strike elite. They won the event in five games, defeating Dignitas, Fnatic, and OG along the way.

23 years-old Turkish player also mentioned the difficulties in Turkey.

The thing is that if you are from Turkey you need to basically get visas to get anywhere around the world. Anywhere a Counter-Strike tournament is happening, we need a visa. Also, this might not be the most important part for me, but having really high ping. It’s not super high, but everyone who we play always has better ping than us. We never had a better ping, sometimes it can be just an excuse, but sometimes when it’s happening on screen it can get in your head and you start to complain about it. Sometimes, I need to say on TeamSpeak: “guys forget about the ping, write ‘net_graph 0’ in the console, don’t see it, and don’t press tab.” It should not even happen, but this is what we are able to get for now, and for the future big events which we missed like Pro League, if we could play this in some boot camp area outside of Turkey, it would be better. We cannot say we lost because of this, but this is a part of our excuses [laughs].
