9INE, who managed to go from open elimination to closed elimination, lost their first match in the closed eliminations. 9INE’s failure made us disappointed. Because in the open eliminations, 9INE was really good at getting over the popular and talented opponents.
Our representative, who managed to participate in the DreamHack Masters Winter closed eliminations by defeating serious teams such as HellRaisers, BudaPest Five, and LDLC in the open qualifiers, unfortunately, lost by 2-1 against the Russian team Gambit in the first match of the closed qualifiers.
During the match played in Bo3 format, our representative 9INE banned the Train map. Then the Russian team banned the Nuke map. 9INE used the first map selection for Dust2. Their opponents chose the map for Overpass. After the selections, the parties banned the Mirage and Inferno maps, and the Vertigo map remained.
The Progress of the Match
There were contentious moments in the Dust2, which is our representative’s choice. Our representative 9INE who closed the first half ahead by 8-7, in the second half continued to win with a 16-12 score. So they made the score as 1-0.
In the Overpass, chosen by the Russian representative Gambit, closed the first half by beating 9INE with a score of 10-5. Although he did his best in the second half, he couldn’t change the situation and the Gambit team won the second map 16-9. With this victory, the Russian team brought the situation to 1-1 and secured a tie.
In Vertigo, the last map, there were once again very controversial moments. They closed the first half with the Russian team ahead by 8-7. In the second half, the situation did not change again. Gambit team took 8 rounds again and won the map by 16-14. Thus, although our representatives did their best, they lost by 2-1 in general. Thus, our representatives could not pass the DreamHack Masters Winter 2020 eliminations. 9INE’s failure caused them to say goodbye to the tournament.
We congratulate our representative 9INE team for this outstanding effort and wish them continued success.
