Manchester City‘s esports division, Man City Esports, has formed a partnership with Challengermode, an esports tournament platform.
As a result, Man City Esports will have its own dedicated section on the platform, starting with weekly tournaments for FIFA 23 and Rocket League. Challengermode has been appointed as the official esports platform for Man City Esports.
The inaugural FIFA 23 tournament organized by the club, named the ‘Treble Winners Cup,’ will take place on June 29th and is open to European players. Participants have the opportunity to win a signed City first-team shirt, as well as other prizes like additional signed shirts and match tickets.
Moreover, Man City Esports has expressed its intention to explore hosting tournaments for other game titles in the future.
Man City has actively pursued collaborations in the esports realm, with its most recent partnership being announced alongside the multinational esports organization Gen.G just a few days ago.
Since its establishment, Man City Esports has experienced significant growth and has assembled professional teams in popular games such as Fortnite and EA Sports FIFA. The team’s roster includes prominent players like ‘Shellzz,’ who was the reigning ePremier League Champion in the 2020/21 season, and ‘Threats,’ who emerged victorious in the 2023 DreamHack San Diego competition.
Meanwhile, Challengermode has been highly involved in various esports events this year. They have collaborated with BLAST for the CS:GO Paris Major and have an upcoming partnership with the Rainbow Six Siege Major tournaments. Additionally, the platform has recently established a partnership with the International Esports Federation (IESF) in preparation for the 2023 Esports World Championship.
