Interz: Not Everyone Can Be A Star!

One of Gambit’s star players Timofey “interz” Yakushin answered pley.gg’s questions. Interz, who took on the riskiest role in the team as a support player, made some candid statements. Aware of the difficulty of the role he plays, he sees himself as the star player.

As we know, the most risky role in the professional scene is the support role. Especially in games such as CS:GO. As the role is not determined by character selection, but by gameplay and it makes your job much more difficult. And if the community insists on not understanding the roles, your job is gets more complicated. While your team’s fragger players get a lot of kills, support players don’t show their performance with the number of kills they get.

They protect the integrity of the team and try to help fraggers get kills. Interz, who played these critical roles in Gambit, the rising team of recent times, made some statements. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the details from the interview together.

Interz was instrumental in helping the Russian team win several high-level tournaments, taking the CS:GO world by storm in 2021. He also had a share in Gambit winning around $1 million with his game. All this happened in 12 months after being promoted from Gambit Youngsters to the team’s main roster.

In fact, when you think of Gambit and its incredible cast, interz may not be the first player that comes to mind.

Teammates such as Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov, Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov and Abay “Hobbit” Khassenov received MVPs this year. As a result, this naturally led to the recognition of the star trio.

But behind their success and great stats is interz. A dedicated support player ready to sacrifice himself for his teammates for bullets, to drop weapons, and build the perfect utility.

“I play the Star Role!”

Interz stated in his statement that he believes he is a star and said:

“I think my role on the team is important. Because every player on a team can’t play a star role and not everyone can get 40-50 kills every game. There has to be one who can create space for others to get kills, and a player who can do the dirty work.

I will always try to adapt and learn new things, so I can continue to progress.”

Interz has represented Gambit since May 2019. He first appeared in Gambit Youngsters, where he played with sh1ro, Ax1Le and Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov.

They formed the famous quartet that later became the foundation of one of the best teams in CS:GO. The best individual event for interz was at DreamHack Masters Winter last year. Here, Astralis scored an impressive 1.15 score against tough opponents like Complexity and Cloud9.

Regarding the talented player’s performance, his teammate Nafany also expressed his opinions.

“interz is not playing for statistics. He plays for his team”

Gambit’s next objective will be ESL Pro League Season 14, where they will try to secure their fifth major title in 2021 after taking second place in their last EPL season in April. When asked how confident Gambit was about the event, interz said:

“It’s hard to say because everyone has been on vacation and tournament break. So, ESL Pro League Season 14 will show which team has practised and prepared the best. The game will show.

We have just practiced a lot. At the 8th of August, we started practising and four days later we went on bootcamp, where we have practiced all day since, to try to progress as much as possible.”
