Alan Wake Remastered and Final Fantasy 7 Remake have been spotted in Epic Games Store data logs.
Reddit user AsleepEntrepreneur73 spotted logs for games on the EpicData, the Epic Games Store data tracker.
Both games seem to have been entered into the database via codenames. HeronStaging for Alan Wake Remastered and Pineapple for Final Fantasy 7 Remake. However, it is possible to see the actual game names in the cloud save folder.
The existence of Alan Wake Remastered is a bit suprising. Last year, developer Remedy announced that it had signed a two-project publishing deal with Epic Games, and then reintroduced the character of fan-favorite Alan Wake through the second expansion of Control.
After Epic announced a publishing deal for a new, smaller-scale project set in the same universe alongside a major AAA game, fans had high hopes that Alan Wake would appear in one of them. Alan Wake 2 was later reported to be one of Remedy’s projects funded by Epic. It makes sense that Alan Wake Remastered is the new, smaller scale project.
As for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the game is exclusive to the PlayStation. A six-month PS5 exclusive version called Intergrade, was released on June 10. This game will be exclusive for at least 6 months. So as this PlayStation deal ends, Final Fantasy 7 is likely to hit PC in December.
It also seems certain that both games will be exclusive to Epic Game Store, for at least 6 months (most likely 1 year).
