After taking a break in January, The Swedish captain hampus back to the CS:GO arena.
In January, hampus decided to step away from competitive Counter-Strike due to health-related issues, which led to his absence throughout the spring season. However, as the tournament break approached, hampus’s agent assured HLTV that the Swedish player was fully prepared and eager to make his comeback.
Shortly after the agent’s remarks, Ninjas in Pyjamas COO Jonas “calc” Gundersen said the team will think about its alternatives in the off-season, both on and off the bench.
Aleksib‘s departure from the Swedish organization marks the conclusion of his nine-month period with the team. The Finnish player joined the squad shortly after a disappointing period with G2, but his arrival brought anticipation as hampus was relieved of the in-game leadership role, enabling him to concentrate on individual performance. Under Aleksib‘s guidance, the team shifted from Swedish to English communication and managed to reach the playoffs of only one significant tournament, the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2022.
From his arrival from GamerLegion in May 2020 until the acquisition of Aleksib by Ninjas in Pyjamas last year, hampus served as the team’s captain. During this time, he guided the Swedish squad through various tournaments, securing playoff berths at both PGL Major Stockholm and PGL Major Antwerp, along with a second-place achievement at IEM Winter 2021.
After the tournament break, Ninjas in Pyjamas and hampus are set to join forces once again at the upcoming BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2023 in Copenhagen, Denmark, which will take place from July 13th to 23rd. The team will face an immediate challenge as they go up against formidable opponents such as Vitality, Heroic, and FaZe, just a few days before the commencement of IEM Cologne.
