With the Steam Deck getting in the hands of players, Valve may already be preparing for its successor. Valve founder Gabe Newell said in an interview with EDGE Magazine that the new version of the handheld computer will be more powerful than the first version. Newell cites the popularity of the most expensive Steam Deck model to shift his focus to a higher-end version.
The most expensive version of the Steam Deck retails for $649.99 with 512GB internal storage via NVMe M.2 SSD in 256GB and 64GB models. Additionally, the model comes with engraved anti-glare glass and a special carrying case. All Steam Deck models use the dedicated AMD RDNA 2 APU.
Valve seems fully keen on expanding the appeal of gaming handhelds. Many of Steam’s most popular games have been confirmed to work on the Steam Deck, including the recently released Elden Ring. Steam Deck 2 may not arrive in a few years, but it looks like more powerful handhelds will arrive sooner or later.
