There is nothing wrong with the title. An Age of Empires 2 tournament, with a $100,000 prize pool, will be played in a real life castle. We’re not talking about a castle in the game. We are talking about a real castle made of real stones.
We couldn’t have imagined a more suitable venue for a Age of Empires tournament. The grand finale of the Red Bull Wololo V Age of Empires 2 tournament will take place at Heidelberg Castle in Heidelberg, Germany.
In fact, the qualifiers are currently underway. Those who succeed in these qualifiers will take part in the main event on September 13-19. The best of the qualifiers will feature top performing players from the entire Red Bull Wololo franchise at Castle Heidelberg. There they will fight for a share of the $100,000 prize pool.
For those who don’t know, let’s talk about how Age of Empires tournaments work. The tournament will be in a special mode where two players face off in an honorable duel like ancient knights. This mode will be Empire Wars, a unique game mode for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.
Struggle and excitement in the tournament will be at the highest level. Because among the participants is Kai “Liereyy” Kallinger, who won the Red Bull Wololo IV in June. There are also AoE II players who have performed at a high level in previous tournaments.
Starting with Red Bull Wololo I in 2020, the series has grown in popularity. In other words, the tournament has already formed a unique fan base. In fact, Wololo IV reached 40,000 concurrent viewers and had over 1,000 players signed up.
The final will take place at the gothic castle Heidelberg in Germany from 13 to 19 September under Red Bull sponsorship. This way, the contestants will be immersed in a medieval fantasy setting.
