The most popular battle royale game, Apex Legends has an official announcement for the Nintendo Switch players. Respawn Entertainment‘s two-year-old game will launch for Switch on March 9th, 2021. However, it was rumored that the game would launch on Switch platform in late 2020, but you know they say, “better late than never”.
Chad Grenier, Game Director of Apex Legends, made a statement about it.
Today, I’m proud to come to you with some good news. Apex Legends is coming to Nintendo Switch on March 9th, 2021.
Porting Apex Legends to its smallest screen yet is a major achievement. We couldn’t have done it without our friends at Panic Button. We’re very proud of what the team has been able to achieve with some smart optimizations for the Switch port to deliver a full-featured Apex Legends experience on the go.
Apex Legends will launch on Switch with support for cross-platform play, our latest seasonal content, and full feature parity with the other versions of the game.
Plus, since we’re launching a few weeks after the start of Season 8, Switch players will be granted 30 free levels for their Season 8 Battle Pass. For the first two weeks after launch, playing on Switch will also earn you double XP.
We can’t wait to welcome Switch players to the arena.
Chad Grenier
Actually, Switch players will be in an advantageous position to PC and console players in terms of battle pass. When the game launches on Switch, Season 8 will complete the first month. Even non-Switch players will earn a level a day, the free levels advantage will be balanced. However, Switch players will earn double XP for two weeks, and still be in a better position. There is no news about it, but I think Respawn will balance things by making a double XP week for us, non-Switch players.
By the way, Nintendo’s official website shows that Apex Legends requires a minimum of 30 GB of empty space. Also, if you are thinking about connecting your PC/console account to Switch, we have bad news for you. Apex Legends currently does not support the account merging or cross-progression system. But it’s rumored that they are working for it. If you are planning to play Apex Legends mainly on any other platform than Switch, it’s better to not spend much money on your Switch account. Also, you can add Apex Legends to your wishlist from Nintendo’s official website.
