Riot Games announced the League of Legends World Championship host cities. According to their announcement, the championship will take place in Autumn. The host cities are going to be Shanghai, Qingdao, Wuhan, Chengdu and Shenzhen cities of China. Let’s look at the details!
With this year’s event, League of Legends Esports will celebrate its tenth anniversary. Therefore, there it is clear why Riot Games has chosen China as the event country. It marks the birthplace of the company. Though some of you might be confused and say “Riot isn’t American?”. However, we have to remember that Tencent Games, a Chinese company, bought Riot Games back in 2015.
Information About The Championship!
League of Legends World Championship will have its grand finale in Shenzen City at the Universiade Sports Center, which has capacity of around sixty thousand people. This Sports Center is also home to the Shenzen Football Club. There is no clear information about the start date of this championship. With this, China is going to host the championship for the third time. As some readers might remember, last year’s tournament took place in Shangai only, in accordance with the COVID-19 restrictions.
We’re extremely excited to push the boundaries of entertainment and sport this year with Worlds 2021 and define the next 10 years of LoL Esports. Shenzhen is China’s most competitive and innovative city with thousands of high-tech startups and entrepreneurial pursuits, so we felt that it was the perfect landscape to host our Finals.

In addition to these announcements, other officials stated that the tournament is going to be more comfortable than the previous year. As we can understand from these statements, Riot Games had to deal with a lot of COVID-19 restrictions in 2020 and they couldn’t achieve what they planned. This time, they are coming with a great event. Naturally, we are extremely excited after these statements. Finally, Riot Games mentioned that they will provide us with more information in the days to come.
