Ubisoft, one of the biggest companies in the gaming world, announced two new animated series. Series will be set within Far Cry and Splinter Cell game series and will air on Netflix. Announcement was made during the Netflix Geeked event. Some people were expecting information about an Assassin’s Creed series. However, that series is probably too early in the production cycle.
Netflix has openly stated that they will make wider expansions to the game world with these new two series. That would follow their previous releases – Witcher and Castlevania series. Netflix hasn’t given a clear date for either series yet. At the same time, they only released small details about the series, as if they were trying to hide something. However, we know some surprise names and details for both of these series. So, let’s take a look at this Ubisoft – Netflix collaboration.
Far Cry!
Far Cry is an open world FPS game. Since 2004, a game from the franchise have been released every two years, and it still continues to do so. After Crytek released the first two games, Ubisoft bought its rights. First, the animated series will be called Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. Also, as the name suggests, the series will be based on the Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Therefore, it will most likely take place in the same futuristic retro punk atmosphere. Helene Juguet, Hugo Revon and Gerard Guillemot will take part in the series. The Paris-based animation studio called Bobbypills will be the designers.
Splinter Cell!
Splinter Cell is an action-adventure and stealth game series. Unlike Ubisoft’s game series that come out every year, this is a video game series in which individual games have different gameplay dynamics. Personally, while waiting for the announcement of a new Splinter Cell’s game, I was quite surprised to see the news about an upcoming series. Both in good terms and bad terms. I was really curious about the story of Sam Fisher, the main character in Splinter Cell. It looks like we will learn the story of our main character as much as possible in this series. In addition, the fact that the screenwriter of the series is Derek Kolstad, the creator of John Wick, which increases my expectations. However, we this is just a series and not a proper game, which we have been waiting for years now. Some of us would love to defeat enemies in stealth mode with Sam Fisher again.
