Cryptocurrency exchange FTX US has partnered with esports organization Nerd Street Gamers for various projects.
FTX will be the sponsor of Nerd Street Gamers’ community events program and a partner for the upcoming Nerd Street Championship in the summer of 2022.
The Nerd Street Championship is an esports event that takes place in a series of games open to all players. The organization said this year the prize money is more than half a million dollars.
“FTX US has a strong focus on making sure our industry – crypto – is a safe, accessible place for all types of people. That’s why as a gamer and esports fan, I’m proud to support Nerd Street’s mission likewise to bring esports to everyone. Their platform is unlocking a massively untapped market of gamers that want to participate but lack access and we’re excited to support their growth.”
Brett Harrison, President of FTX
FTX is best known for its naming rights partnership with North American esports organization TSM. The deal that was made last year was one of the largest sponsorship deals in esports history. The crypto exchange has also become the official crypto exchange for North America’s League of Legends series LCS.
“Every time a new paradigm in technology opens up – the internet, web browsers, mobile phones, or social networks – there is always a lot of noise, and the majority fails to sustain beyond the initial hype. With blockchain, it’s been no different. Our partnership with FTX US is focused on arming our gamers with context and knowledge to cut through the noise of getting rich quick schemes and see the real value of this new technology.”
John Fazio, CEO, and Founder of Nerd Street Gamers
FTX is one of the largest crypto exchanges and Nerd Street had a hugely successful year. It seems like a smart idea for the two brands to work together, especially given FTX’s presence in esports established in 2021.
