The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) enables young people to discover their talents. The award now also includes esports.
DofE has been actively helping young people in more than 130 countries and regions. It serves a range of organizations including schools, colleges, youth groups, youth delinquency agencies, incentive agencies and hospitals. It licenses and supports young people to run DofE programmes. DofE, which offers various opportunities in many fields, now also has an esport program.
Esports is one of the fastest growing activities in the UK. In addition it helps young people develop essential skills. DofE has a proud history of evolving our programmes to reflect the changing interests and needs of young people. So I’m delighted that, following a successful pilot. Then we’ve added esports to the DofE Skills list. DofE is all about helping young people develop themselves. So they have the skills and confidence to make the most of whatever life throws at them. Setting yourself challenges and mastering new skills is core to the DofE experience. Esports provides a structured and safe way to do this. Also it is a lot of fun.
