Apex Legends’ most prestigious tournament Apex Legends Global Series, which has a $5 million prize pool this year, announced the invited teams to the second stage of the tournament, the ALGS Regional Pro League.
At this stage, there are 200 teams, 40 each from each region. But 100 of these teams will start directly from the second stage of the tournament. Almost every top team in the last championship will take part this year. But some teams that performed well last year have not been included in the invitee list. That’s because the players of those teams left their organization.
North America
The most popular region of the Apex Legends esports scene is North America. Many familiar names, both individually and as an organization, are here. We see that most teams that appeared in the final stage of last year’s tournament received invitations. The last champion, Team Kungarna, will do its best to do the unexpected and become champion again. The big teams that upset their fans in the last tournament, like TSM, Cloud9, NRG, Liquid, seem like they will try to be better this time.
Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA)
Another of the most enjoyable areas to watch is the EMEA region. SCARZ was the last champion of this region. Although they are intimidating, teams like soloQgoats and ZETA are just as ambitious.
APAC North
Teams from the APAC North region, which includes Japan and Korea, will again fight to be the best. In the last tournament, FENNEL Korea won $177,319. But Apex Legends is a game where player names stand out rather than teams or organizations. The players, who won first place with FENNEL last year, have been invited to the tournament without organization. T1, which also finished third in the last tournament, also parted ways with its players. But that squad also formed their team and received the ALGS Pro League invitation.
APAC South
Teams from Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, are also highly competitive. Some of them, like the last champion Wolfpack Arctic, have already received their invitations. EXO Clan, which placed third in the last tournament and is one of the most ambitious teams in the region, is not on this list, because the players have left the team and are participating in the tournament under a new name, Sutoraiku.
South America
South America had the lowest prize pool at ALGS last year. But the championship stage of the tournament was as competitive as other regions. Paradox Esports, last year’s champion, is not among the invited teams because the team’s Apex roster has parted their ways. Team Singularity is still one of the most ambitious teams in the region. But even among these invited teams, it’s hard to predict who will win the championship.
The ALGS Regional Pro League stage will begin on October 1st. The teams that registered for the tournament and/or didn’t get an invite will compete in Challenger Circuit to fill the remaining slots of Pro League.
