Fnatic Goes International With Its CS:GO Team!

One of the well-established and powerful teams of CS:GO, fnatic became an international team with its 2 latest transfers. Thus, the organization broke the Swedish squad that they had maintained since 2013 for the first time.

Fnatic, which pulled Jesper “JW” Wecksell and its in-game leader Maikil “Golden” Selim to the backup, had already given the transfer signals. “Will fnatic be an international team?” The question sparked a lot of buzz.

Having signed with ex-Cloud9’s Alex “ALEX” McMeekin and William “mezii” Merriman, fnatic added 2 Brits to their team. Thus, the team’s main communication language moved away from being Swedish. Taking a step towards becoming an international team, fnatic brought their new transfer, ALEX, to their in-game leadership.

Fnatic Becomes an International Team in CS:GO!

ALEX had previously taken in-game leadership for key teams such as Team Vitality and Cloud9. fnatic, which I think will benefit immensely from his experiences, seems to make a bombastic start to this season.

In addition, fnatic CS:GO team coach Andreas “Samuelsson” Samuelsson also made a statement on the subject:

“After the first careful consideration, we decided that our best way forward would be to adopt an international lineup to ensure our purpose and vision would best be met,”

“We have a huge amount of respect and admiration for the Swedish CS:GO scene, however, we felt an international lineup would provide us with many more options and greater flexibility for the future.”

Samuelsson also emphasized that they needed a name with in-game experience such as ALEX.

Taking the wheel of the Swedish fnatic’s rise, the new in-game leader ALEX stated that he wants to rise again and become a legend. Here is the description of the English player:

“To say that I’m excited would be an understatement. Being given the chance to help rebuild fnatic into a title-winning team again is a big challenge but a fun one that I will take on with enthusiasm. I want to get back to winning ways here at fnatic and I will give my all to do so. To the people that have supported me so far, I would like to thank you for your continuous kind words and energy.”

With these two big transfers, the expectations of the fans have increased considerably from fnatic, which has completed its 5-man squad. They will definitely do their best to return to the old legendary days. Here is the new squad:

  • Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson
  • Ludvig ”Brollan” Brolin
  • Jack ”Jackinho” Ström Mattsson
  • Alex ”ALEX” McMeekin
  • William ”mesii” Merriman
