Guild Esports Appoints Its First Performance Manager!

As well as announcing the new Apex Legends team last week, Guild Esports has also today announced the appointment of it first Performance Manager, Edgar Chekera. He’s a highly experienced sports psychologist, having worked at other top-tier esports organizations including Manchester City, Hashtag United, Petersfield RFC, AS Roma, Fnatic and Excel.

Guild Esports has today announced the signing of its first ever Performance Manager, Edgar Chekera, who joins the David Beckham co-owned esports organization to lead the holistic out-of-game development of their esports athletes. In his role, Chekera will focus on one-on-one sports psychology work with Guild’s players, including team sessions on communication and feedback methodology and leading the organization’s contract department to push forward their physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, nutrition and mental wellbeing for athletes competing professionally across six games, including Apex Legends, Fortnite and more.

Working With Pro-Athletes Competing And More

Chekera joins Guild with almost a decade’s experience in the industry, having applied his mental performance coaching at top-tier esports organizations including Manchester City, Hashtag United, Petersfield RFC, AS Roma, Fnatic and Excel, with teams he has worked with going on to win tournaments including the ePremier League, Europe FUT Cup, Oceania FUT Cup and more.

As well as being a guest lecturer at Birmingham City University, Chichester University and Winchester University, speaking about esports and his work within the industry, Chekera will also work with Guild to lead the building of their performance philosophy across the organization as a whole, for which every pro and Academy player will soon benefit from.

Guild Esports has been making major moves in developing their professional rosters since launching in June 2020 and secured eye-catching results in competitions including major trophies in the Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS) and Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS). It has created a blueprint for bringing exciting talent together with its best-in-class organization to propel teams up the rankings, including its all-female Valorant team, Guild X, which was announced last month.
