Turkey’s representative team in the Nine to Five 6 Dawn, 9INE had gotten disqualified from the tournament in November.
Because of the player Doğukan “QutionerX” Dural’s old account’s VAC ban, the team was disqualified before getting a chance to have its first match in the tournament.
The team had announced that they would investigate about the situation. As a result, they posted a statement about the situation on Twitter during the evening hours on 3 November.
We had an issue with a suspicious looking ban on an account on Faceit that was related to one of our players. It was an old account that hadn’t been used for several years. At first, 9INE got disqualified from a tournament due to this account. We began a throughout investigation in the account and player. On Faceit the account had a temporary ban due to VAC. However, VAC bans are always permanent. Something was strange. We continued investigating STEAM:ID and much more and nowhere was it said that this account had a VAC ban. It was only on Faceit. After a lengthy discussion with representatives of Faceit, we came to the conclusion that there was something wrong with the issuing of said ban. The account is no longer under any sort of ban and it seems like there has been a mistake made.
It looks like the disqualification of Turkey’s representative team from the tournament was unfair. However, we are glad that the issue is now solved. We hope that in the esports stage, no such mistakes will occur in the future. Also, we are very sorry to hear about this unfortunate event and send 9INE our best wishes.
