Netflix Is Releasing A Dota 2-Based Anime Series

Netflix announced that they are preparing to release an anime based on the popular game Dota 2. The 8-episode anime Dota: Dragon’s Blood will air on March 25. You can watch the trailer below:

The story of the show will develop around one of Dota 2’s most popular characters, Davion aka Dragon Knight.

The official Dota 2 Twitter account made the following statement on the subject:

The anime is produced by Studio MIR, which produced The Legend of Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender before.

Netflix said the following about the anime:

The upcoming fantasy series tells the story of Davion, a renowned Dragon Knight devoted to wiping the scourge from the face of the world.

Following encounters with a powerful, ancient eldwurm as well as the noble Princess Mirana on a secret mission of her own, Davion becomes embroiled in events much larger than he could have ever imagined.

As both a Dota and an anime fan, I was happy to receive such a surprise from Netflix. The fact that the anime will be released next month is a plus. However, it’s worth mentioning that Netflix’s anime history is not good. The company has often been heavily criticized by anime fans. Of course, my hopes are higher, because Studio MIR is at the helm of the project here. All in all, I cannot wait to binge-watch it on the first day!
