Mass Effect Legendary Edition Gets a Release Date

EA & Bioware finally unveiled the release date of Mass Effect Legendary Edition. The package that includes the remastered versions of all three games with all of their DLCs will release on May 14. Let’s see what this remaster is all about in details.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition: Reveal Trailer

The legendary edition will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC via Origin and Steam. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will run it via backward compatibility.

Legendary Edition will include Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3, along with all of their DLCs. Unsurprisingly, the multiplayer will be absent. All games in the pack will be playable in 4k ULTRA HD with HDR. The entire trilogy will have “remastered character models and tens of thousands of up-rezzed textures. Improvements to shaders and VFX, updated lighting and improved dynamic shadows, volumetrics and depth-of-field.”

As you can see down below the first game in the trilogy will have the most extensive overall. EA stated that it will have “comprehensive world-building enhancements with added detail and depth to locations like Eden Prime, Ilos and Feros,”. The combat and the exploration portions of the game will also be “modernized”. Things like squad controls, camera movement and that godawful Mako parts will be improved (hopefully).

Personal Opinion

Frankly, I am glad. While many people might have fond memories of the first game it wasn’t without its issues. Many people are currently angry (what do you expect, this is the internet) because of the yet unseen “changes” to the first game. As a fan of later games, I will be much happier with the improved combat and the change to Mako exploration portions.

I am bit saddened by the fact that the multiplayer is not included, but yeah this is not too surprising when it comes to trilogy remasters. Strangely, they did not think of releasing special versions for the next-gen consoles, however, with old games like this, I think the extra horsepower wouldn’t have made a difference, so backwards compatibility should be enough.

I hope the release will go smoothly because I am definitely going to be playing this remaster on the release day.
